Occlusive stroke is a major cause of lasting disability in the US and the world. Here in the Cheatwood lab at SIUC, we are interested in learning more about the post-stroke brain. We hope that information from our studies will allow the development of effective therapies to enhance recovery from post-stroke deficits. Toward this end, our research goals focus on understanding and maximizing brain plasticity after injury and include novel strategies such as anti-Nogo-A and stem cell therapies.
