The MissouriStaffords.PAF Database

The MissouriStaffords.PAF database was created using the Church of Latter Day Saints software, Personal Ancestral File, Version 5.1.12.0. The data in this database were gathered by Frances Widdows Ashley. The photographs and other visuals were scanned and enhanced by Lee Hill. Frances's data were keyed in directly by Lee Hill from Frances's forms, notes, and other records, and then exported from the PAF database (filetype .paf) into a Standard GEDCOM 5.5 file (filetype .ged). GEDCOM files are a universal filetype that can be opened by any genealogical program. The GEDCOM file was then pasted into this page to make it accessible to a web browser. All original PAF databases will be kept in Lee Hill's possession; copies will be sent to the LDS when he feels their data is accurate and complete. The data from MissouriStaffords.ged begin AFTER the dashed line. Put your mouse cursor below the dotted line, in front of the first line of data, which begins with '0 HEAD'. Hold down the mouse button and drag the cursor over '0 HEAD' to highlight it. Then jump to the bottom of the page, hold down the shift key, and drag over the last line, '0 TRLR'. The entire file will be highlighted. Then, from your browser's menu bar, click Edit and Copy. All that highlighted data is now copied into your computer's memory, or "clipboard" as Windows calls it. Then, open a plain-text editor, such as Windows Wordpad, tell it to create a new text file, and then paste the GEDCOM file in memory into a new file. Give the new file any name you want, but be sure it ends in .ged. Save the new GEDCOM file to disk. Then import the file into whatever genealogy program you use.
