Your pictures are truly wonderful. I just loved the way you described your
situation in each one. I am 33 yrs old. I barely remember my uncle.
I am so interested in this war. But mostly , the ones who served. I never
knew so much could happen while sharing these small quarters together.
People do not realize what happened there. I know I never did.
the friendships that were made, the memories you all must have. We were
never taught much about this war. I only understood the word Vietnam
through a dead uncle. And I'm sad to say the old Chuck Norris movies. If we
all could get together and understand what you all went through, we would
of never forgotten the pain of this all.
Until I started my research to find more about my uncle, I never knew soooo many died. I never knew the pain of families just wanting simple unanswered questions. There are so many kind people out there, willing to help out. Thank you so much for sharing with all of us, your life and time in the war. You're so lucky to have those pictures. I hope someday I can do the same for my mom. She has a hard time just talking about Archie. She knows I'm doing a search but hasn't asked where I'm at. I hope to give her more information than I have now. Some of this stuff is shocking. We were told when Archie died, he was guarding a amnunition dump, it was blown up, and he died. But in some research I found, he was with the 101st, and died in a crash in Binh Dinh. I just about jumped out of my skin that night. We never knew he even was part of the flight crew. Last we new, he was in Quang Nam (think I spelt that right).
This is truly amazing just to find someone from the 101st, that was his age. Again thank you for sharing and caring. Anyone who knows anything about my uncle, please send e-mail to Joanne Rivet from canada.
