Life in progress.

Jackie is a doctoral student at Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale, pursuing her degree in Anthropology with a
specialization in primate behaviour and cognition. She
teaches the introductory Anthropology course: The Human
Experience at SIUC, and conducts behavioural research on
gibbons in Thailand at Khao Yai National Park.

Driven to understand the human condition I have developed
my career in anthropology within a framework that
addresses the intrinsic balance in humans between culture
and nature.

I believe that anthropologists interested in primate
behaviour have a unique ability to connect people with
nature and their biological basis. This is the direction of
understanding that I pursue in my life and my own research
in primate behaviour and cognition.

“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
Howard Thurman (1900-1981)
