I am a wildlife ecologist at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  My research interests are broad, but most of my projects involve the causes and consequences of population dynamics and behaviors of mammals.  Drawing rigorous inference from statistical data analysis and exploring ideas with modeling are consistent aspects of my work.  I am particularly interested in understanding how animals exploit sites of high suitability (such as refuges from predators) with imperfect information, and how social behaviors influence the spread and impact of diseases.
