Each year, in conjunction with the Carbondale Metals Conference, SIMS hosts a benefit auction. This auction is an important fund raiser for SIMS, and the funds raised at the event are allocated to tools and equipment for the SIUC Metals Department, as well as improvements to facilities and support for the Conference. The event is fun, and a wide variety of items is always present. Past auctions have featured pieces by conference presenters and other well known artists, SIU faculty, alumni, and students.
